Who We Are
Congregation Shaarei Tefila is a Modern Orthodox Synagogue in the heart of the Los Angeles Fairfax-Hancock Park Jewish Community. Founded as the Western Jewish Institute in the early 1930’s, our services, classes, and community programs have made Shaarei Tefila a center of traditional Jewish worship, education, and social activity for over seventy years. We are committed to Torah, tradition, family, community and support for the people and land of Israel.
We offer regular classes and programs (daily, weekly, and monthly) for the whole spectrum of our congregation: young and old, men and women, children, teenagers, families and couples. Our large sanctuary, with its beautiful stained glass, seats men and women separately with a proper mechitza and balcony.
Our elegant social hall, Kanner Hall, is enjoyed by the entire community as a place for kiddishes and simchot with exclusive kosher catering.
